This is the Base Kit 1c for the Indoor Veg Garden– Series 2. 

This is a 60 or 48cm tall stand made of clear Perspex, the same as that in Kit 1a, minus one shelf, but with the addition of everything you need to grow 3 pots of herbs under LED grow-lights.

The kit includes:-

A 60 or 48cm tall stand made of clear Perspex.

The 575mm Terracotta colour base tray.

Insect trap.

3 pots the choice of round or square.

1x 45w LED 60cm growlight (blue dominant for leafy herbs or read dominant for fruiting plants).

Some features:–

·       The system is totally modular, meaning you can start from any of the base kits and by adding extra parts change it into just about any configuration you can imagine.

·       You can attach reflective panels in various positions; these can be used to reflect the light back onto the plant either from a sunny window or from LED lights which can be mounted vertically and horizontally.

·       The horizontal shelf that supports the lights can hold up to 4x (3cmW Bar lights) or 1x (11cmW Bar light), they can also be used to suspend up to 4x (3cmW Bar lights) vertically facing back in towards the plant.

·       The height of the stand can be either 48 cm or 60 cm tall, the 48 cm measurement is so it will fit on the kitchen bench top with cupboards above which are generally 54 cm above the bench top, it is generally used placed against a wall, but it does come with an optional backstop if you want it to be freestanding.

·       It is designed to be a balanced system, therefore it needs to be mounted on a hard flat surface, if you would like to mount it on carpet, preferably next to a wall (if it looks like Pic.5), then you will need the carpet plate set (see the add-on section) or you will need a piece of flat board to set the stand on - 30cm x 30cm.

·       The kit comes with stainless steel fixtures and a securing tool.

Pic.1,2&3 - shows you what is contained in the Base Kit 1c.

Pic.4 shows what it looks like, in 4a the light is sitting on the top of the top shelf, normally it is suspended from each shelf, but in this situation the plants are a little taller so a little bit more height is gained this way. Of course with the addition of extra stand the light can be moved up accordingly. 4b shows another way of connecting using the supplied attachment cable, this gives great flexibility as you can move the light easily up and down and tilt it to any angle. Realistically you would only use this feature if you have an extra stand on top for added height and were growing taller plants.

Pic.5- shows how the system can be expanded, in this situation a 60cm long 11cm wide LED Bar light is used on the bottom stand to grow 3 pots of herbs, above this are another 2 stands using the smaller 3 cm wide LED grow-lights, one per shelf, to grow 4 trays of micro-greens.

Pic.6- shows a similar configuration but with 2 box section at the bottom growing 2 levels of 3 pots of herbs using the 60cm long 11cm wide light. The box section gives more stability and allows for the 2nd level of pots above this and open stand is being used with the 37 motor wide lights to grow to trays of micro-greens.

Pic.7&8- This picture is a similar configuration to Pic.6 the difference being is that there are 3 levels or stands growing 3 pots of herbs at the back, the 2 bottom stands have 4 open shelves attached to them growing 4 trays of micro-greens using the 3 cm wide lights. They are the same configuration Pic.7 has some of the micro-green trays removed so you can see the pots at the rear.

Pic.9,10&11- shows the stand expanded into 3 stands high, in this configuration the stand is just used to support the lights at the top horizontally you can have the choice of 30cm long or 60cm long 3cm wide bar lights, or in this situation more commonly you would choose the stronger 11cm wide bar light, you can also see that the 3cm wide lights have been mounted vertically, this is advantageous for tall plants e.g. a climbing tomato plant as seen in this picture, which is trained to grow in a zigzag fashion, with the lights mounted vertically the lower sections of the plant still receive enough light to sustain fruiting, in this case tomatoes. Reflective panels can be mounted at the back to further maximise the light being delivered to all parts of the plant.
