With these 2 containers you can raise the height of the Desk Lamp growing kit in increments of 100mm. In this picture we see Rocket in 130mm S/W pots at two stages. 2 containers are used to raise the lights & another 2 are being used to raise the tray at the back, which allows for seedlings at the back & larger plants ready to eat at the front, needs a shelf depth of at least 280mm.
Growing Larger Plants using the Desk Lamp kit:- the kit comes with two 28w compact fluorescent globes giving you the equivalent of 280w of incandescent light. By keeping the growing tips close to the light source(ie adding containers in 100mm increments) you can achieve good growth rates with these globes when combined with our highly reflective anodise aluminium shade. A further option to get even more light to all parts of the plant is to use 2 or even 3 light kits, placed at different heights and taking advantage of the ability of the shade to be easily rotated(see diagram).
Another configuration would be to have two kits in a cupboard one at the back, another raised in the centre for top growth & then reflective Aluminium foil on the inside of the cupboard doors.
When the plant is at the desired height then you reduce the the amount of time that the lights are on, this tells the plant to stop growing and start to produce flowers and fruit.
They can even be upgraded to 48w globes(2x48wFluro=2x240w normal incandescent light output) if required although we do not supply them at this stage, but are available through light shops & hardware, or if there is a demand we shall get them in.
