This growing system is the most space & power efficient way of growing your salad greens.
This lighting kit is designed to go with the shallow self watering pot sprouting kits(i.e. perfect for Snow Peas, Cress, Mustard, Wheatgrass etc). See Fig.1. You will see this kit in the related item list below.
Or you can use it to grow salad Greens such as Rocket, Parsley, Mint etc. In Fig.2 you see rocket at an early stage of growth. So if you would like to grow these type of salad Greens see the kit below called 3 Small S/W Pot Kit for Window Ledge & Light Kit, or click on 3 Small S/W Pot Kit for Window Ledge & Light Kit.
The containers are used to elevate the light, two of which are included in the kit, you can easily purchase more if you require ie may be necessary if you are growing continental parsley for instance. In the picture we have filled the containers with white quartz pebbles, this provides more stability and makes the containers more attractive, alternatively you can just fill them with water or sand, or use it as a storage area.
As you can see from the spectral graphs Fig.3 & 4 these LED lights, which are bluish white, have all of the required frequencies to produce good salad greens. If you would like to grow something like a tomato plant or strawberries ie something that is going to go to flower and fruit then you would be advised to change these lights over to 7w red dominant globes ie 7w(6R1B) when the plant is mature and ready to start to flower.
Note these lamps are not strong enough to hold the weight of LED lights greater than the 7 W that we supply, but you will find they supply ample energy to the plant due to their higher intensity and the lenses, Fig.3, used to focus the beams of light.
The kit contains:- 2x Desk Lamps, 2x7W White LED globes, and 2x sticky insect traps with attaching clips, 2 x 1ltr containers to elevate the lamps) The bulbs will last approximately 7.5 years at 18 hours a day. For More Info. Click On-> Growing Under LED Lights.pdf
