Sprout Cover Rectangle Extension |

This is an extension piece that allows you to use the rectangular Perspex Sprout Germination cover, for the 475mm tray on the larger 575 mm tray.
This clear rectangular Perspex Sprout cover is used for the germination stage when growing MicroGreens such as Radish, Broccoli, Cress, Mustard, Field Pea, Wheatgrass etc, it is best to keep the seeds covered for the first few days so that they do not dry out, this clear Perspex cover has holes to allow for air flow, but not so much that it will dry out the seeds. It also saves space by allowing you to stack them one on top of each other while they are in this germination phase.
When they begin to Sprout, you can un-stack them and still leave the cover on and light will now be able to get through, and then remove the cover once the sprouts begin to lift the lid.
Sometimes you may find it beneficial to place a little bit of extra weight, because some of the MicroGreens appreciate to have something to push against as they push their roots into the growing medium. In a normal situation seeds that are planted a couple of centimetres under the ground have the weight of the ground above to push against, the way I achieve this is with a paperclip at each end as shown in the picture, because the extension piece is not connected physically to the other piece than just used the paperclip at the point of joining.
